ENSEMBLES/AMMA Workshop

Seasonal forecasting is of critical importance to the West African societies. The research projects AMMA and ENSEMBLES have some unique expertise in developing tools for seasonal to decadal forecasting and applying these predictions to socio-economical systems. The workshop will cover the following topics :

  • The latest advances in seasonal forecasting in West Africa.
    • Developing and improving models used
    • Regional downscaling over West Africa
    • The potential of decadal forecasting
  • Applying seasonal to decadal forecasts to
    • agricultural yield models
    • public health
    • water resource management sectors
    • early warning systems for food security.
  • Future areas for research, including FP7 projects
