Rossby Centre Day 2007

3 Oct 2007

Rossby Centre Day 2007

The topic of the 2007 Rossby Centre Day was "Towards higher resolution". There is an increasing demand for knowing the climate variability at very high spatial and temporal resolution. At the same time climate modelling is profiting from the rapid development of computers, allowing longer simulations with higher resolution. Climate modelling has certainly not reached the end of this evolution; however, the Rossby Centre's current model family needs an update to fulfil the increasing amount of requests from our users.

Presentations from keynote speakers during the Rossby Centre Day focused on the demand from users for better climate data, and on statistical and dynamical downscaling techniques that could help to meet the demands. A stimulating discussion rounded off the successful day.
